Business Partnership Project
A new investment promotion approach has been adopted by the General Directorate for Foreign Investment. Strenghening the institutional capacity of the Directorate accordingly is the core issue and the activities are carried out accordingly. The activities are focused on promoting Turkey as a favorable investment destination and the projects are carried out in this manner.
To increase the cooperation between local and international investors who are seeking business partners, Business Partnership Project has been initiated with an aim of providing sound infrastructure for match-making. About the project...
The main aim of this project is to increase the cooperation between local and international investors who are seeking business partners. Undersecretariat of Treasury has a target of creating an environment for business match-making but it does not guarantee making such a deal. (Please consult to the Disclaimer section)
The prospective sectors to focus on are as follows:
- Manufacture of textile products
- Manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers
- Manufacture of coke, refined petroleum products and nuclear fuel
- Manufacture of radio, television and communication equipment and apparatus
- Agriculture, hunting and related service activities Fishing
- Manufacture of chemicals and chemical products
- Manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products
- Manufacture of food products and beverages
- Manufacture of rubber and plastics products
- Manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c.
- Manufacture of furnitures
- Manufacture of basic metals
- Tanning and dressing of leather; manufacture of luggage, handbags, saddlery, harness and footwear

General Directorate for Foreign Investment
The General Directorate for Foreign Investment (GDFI) is an agency of the Undersecretariat for Treasury under the Ministry of State in Charge of Economy. The GDFI has been serving as the sole public body in charge of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Turkey since early 1980s.
The competency of GDFI in FDI related issues is not only a product of its close relations with foreign investors throughout the years, but also its status as one of the eight operational general directorates of the Treasury, which is a public body having central role in formulating and implementing economic policies of the government.
The GDFI is mainly responsible for formulating and implementing government's FDI policy. This mandate enables GDFI to carry out following tasks with considerable effectiveness:
- guide and assist foreign investors in exploring investment opportunities in Turkey
- provide both potential and invested foreign investors current data and information on business climate
- process foreign investors' applications for investment incentives and issue incentive certificates for eligible projects
- keep record of FDI inflows to Turkey
- conduct FDI related international relations of Turkey at bilateral and multilateral platforms
The GDFI also acts as:
- Secretariat of the Coordination Council for the Improvement of Investment Environment
- Secretariat of the Investment Advisory Council for Turkey
Staffed with dedicated teams in 9 departments, GDFI provides dependable investor services on the basis of its multi-dimensional expertise in FDI issues. The services offered by GDFI aim at optimizing the conditions for success of foreign investors and are available to them free of charge and with full confidentiality.

OIZ database
Having a proper investment location is a key factor in shaping investor’s decision when choosing a specific country to invest, thus getting most up-to-date and accurate land information is crucial. With the Organized Industrial Zones (OIZ) Database, it’s aimed to have updated site information about the land availability of OIZ all across Turkey.
The OIZ Database will facilitate:
- all the relevant information about the land availability in OIZ in one center
- information needs of the national and international investors online
- the promotional needs of OIZ managements all across the country in an effective way
- the needs of policy-makers in smoothing the investment climate of the countr

This business matchmaking facility is a unique service that has been set up by the General Directorate for Foreign Investment (GDFI) to assist in particular Turkish companies in finding potential business partners. The role of GDFI will be that of a matchmaker and it will provide a platform for firms to come together and explore various areas of cooperation using GDFI’s website. This service is open to any and all interested firms and it’s free of charge.
